The section of highway #277 assigned to the Nature Center runs for two miles beginning just a mile east of the C. C. Winn Campus. This strip has been without sponsorship for some years and in the two hours that the youths worked, they were able to bag 25 large trash sacks weighing some six to eight hundred pounds in total.

This litter consisted in large part of discarded food and drink containers. The second largest category of litter was car debris in the form of tire fragments, and any and everything that might fall from or become dislodged from vehicles. The third most common litter was baby diapers and clothing.

A second trash-Off is planned for April 5th and the public will again be invited to come out and enjoy the great outdoors, the exercise, the pleasure of contributing to Eagle Pass, and the reward of knowing that the drive into our city presents a welcome face to those visiting or seeking to invest in this community.
