Elementary Science Class gears up for the TEKS Science test by studying life cycle of monarch butterflies, then tagging them in a citizen's science project in collaboration with the University of Kansas' Monarch Watch Program. 150 monarchs were tagged in the Eagle Pass area by students from four elementaries. The Nature Center purchased the supplies and provided the instruction to enable this learning enrichment in the public schools. Some 600 students participated at Lee Elementary, Ray Darr, San Luis, Kirshner, Pete Gallego, and Poe Elementary in Houston, Tx.
